Narc vs. Narc 2: The California Cannabis Coup D’etat

The Green Pulpit

Why was medical marijuana conceived? To quote a great man, it was conceived “to free a plant, to free a people, to free a planet”. Marijuana’s past had been lost in over a century of prohibition brought upon by an extreme belief in the pseudoscience of eugenics, previously used as a medicine to heal the central nervous system and the immune system for thousands of years. Marijuana had nearly come to be free again several times in the 1960’s and 1970’s but, due to financial forces seeking to keep the plant bonded and the people dependent on their products and services, the promised reform never came. The state created an organization called the Drug Enforcement Agency who were given carte blanche to enhance the prison complex by distributing drugs from cannabis to crack throughout the United States to entrap US citizens and confiscate their wealth for four decades. So medical…

Hemp Can Save The Central Valley Of California.

hemp 4 victory in American History

The Central Valley of California is in dire straights as I write this very article. The Central valley hosts 4 out of the 10 most polluted cities in the U.S. Apparently the smaller cities located close enough to larger ones like ( Merced-Fresno ) are considered the same area. So on the list you will see several Central Valley cities. Fresno-Madera tops the list at #1. Bakersfield is #2. Visalia-Porterville-Hanford came in at #3. And coming in at #4 we have Modesto-Merced. So technically there are 8 Central valley cities in the top 4 most polluted cities in America. I imagine all the other small cities in between them are just as bad. They most likely just don’t want to list the entire Central Valley as having unhealthy and unfit air to breathe because they need room for the larger cities like Los Angeles who was #5 on the list, and San Francisco-San Jose-Oakland who gets the honorable mention at #6. But you got to give them credit. They tried to list as many Central Valley cities as possible.

So why is the Central Valley so polluted and the air so unhealthy? Well the first and most obvious is it’s an enormous valley. I’ve been told you can see the Central Valley from space. Don’t know if that’s true or not, but I imagine you could. The Central Valley is really two valleys. The San Joaquin to the south and Sacramento to the north. All told, the Central Valley is about 450 miles long, from Bakersfield up to Redding, and is 60 miles at its widest, between the Sierra Nevada to the east and the Coast Ranges to the west. It’s larger than nine different states. The Central Valley acts as a pool for pollutants produced by the region’s residents, its industry and its large agricultural community. These emissions then get trapped in the valley by an inversion layer of warm air. Then add-on the fact California has had the worst smog problems in the United States for over 40 years and we have a real disaster on our hands here people.

Zebr a Oil

California is also a large Oil producing state. What? Yes it is the 4th largest Oil producing state in the nation behind Alaska. California is also a very large oil-refining state in part because of the stringent regulations California has in place on the amount of oxygen allowed in gasoline. Oil refineries pollute our air, water, and land. Oil refineries cause smog and air pollution. Almost all refineries in every country currently pollute at unacceptable, unhealthy levels. Oil refineries emit about 100 chemicals everyday. These include metals like lead which makes it hard for children to learn. They also include very smaller size dust particles that get deep into our lungs and harm our ability to breathe. Finally, refineries emit many gases like sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxide (NO2), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, dioxins, hydrogen fluoride, chlorine, benzene and others

Did you know the Central valley was not only loved by farmers and cultivators for its vast sunshine and ample size it was also praised for being the healthiest top soil in the nation. Now due to non organic and unhealthy agricultural practices the top soil is dead in most places. If you want to see how the land has changed because of dubious farming practices, take a drive on State Route 45 south of Wasco. Large swaths of land that are no longer farmed. Due to petroleum derived, synthetic fertilizers that they inject directly into the soil. Which in turn poisoned and killed off the living microbes and organisms in the soil leaving the soil barren, alkali and lifeless. Or take a Drive past the real HARRIS ranch, were your juicy steaks sit in a small crowded pin knee-deep in their own waste, forcing them to use antibiotics on the cows that you in turn consume after purchasing, cooking, and eating. Why? So they can push more cattle to market faster? Big Ag is destroying the local farmers way of life and our climate at the same time.

California DroughtThose crafty signs blaming the government for their own misuse and malpractice of their own land doesn’t garner much attention from me. You have to spend a lot of money and be very greedy to destroy such vast amounts of fertile agricultural land for profit. Trying to alter nature to accommodate the large agricultural business model did not work and it will never work. Growing vast amounts of government subsidized Corn, SoyBean, or whatever fetches top dollar from the taxpayers is what has caused the fertile Central Valley top soil to die in the first place. Not the lack of water. They have always had all the water they needed allotted to them here, and some. Even during our current drought only residents have been asked to cut back on usage. The agricultural industry uses 80% of the water consumed in California every year. Even though everyone here in Fresno is now on Meters and now pays for every dime they sprinkle on their own lawn. Residents are the only ones currently being threatened with fines if they don’t cut back usage.

industrialhemp-LGSo the pollution and emissions from us, the oil Industry, large agricultural industry and all other general industries all get trapped right here and will not leave or dissipate because of an inversion layer of warm air that traps it in our valley. Now….don’t do, what everyone thinks you’re gonna do….and just, flip out man! But there is and has always been a viable solution for the Central Valley. Hemp! What if the Central Valley farmers were able to cultivate a drought resistant, pest resistant Crop that cleaned the air, and replenished the damaged soil? What If that one crop could provide Food, Paper, Fiber, Medicine, Fuel, and up to 50,000 different potential uses ? What if this single plant could create thousands of JOBS and an entire new fully sustainable and renewable GREEN industry for the California economy to thrive on? Why would any farmer, city, county, government, or economy be against that?  Hemp is the only Plant on earth that can do that for California and the Central Valley.

Hemp BreathesSo how Can Hemp Save the Central valley ? Hemp can help save the Central valley in several ways. Lets start with the air we breathe. This is from a bulletin by the USDA in 1916: Hemp is the miracle plant of our time, breathing in 4the carbon dioxide (CO2) of trees during its quick 12-14 week growing cycle. Trees take 20 years to mature vs 4 months for Industrial Hemp! Our forests are being cut down 3x faster than they can grow! One acre of hemp produces as much cellulose fiber pulp as 4.1 acres of trees. (Dewey & Merrill. Bulletin #404. U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. 1916) Obviously we have known that for quite some time. No other plant in the plant kingdom is as efficient at converting CO2 back into oxygen then Hemp. Burning anything produces CO2. But every year during the growing season, plant photosynthesis turns that CO2 back into oxygen. Hemp is the perfect crop for the Central Valley farmers to help combat those trapped Greenhouse gases in the valley on an annual basis.

Hemp Heals soilsReplenishing the damaged soil is essential to revitalizing the Central Valley and the California economy. There are so many small farming communities that rely on agriculture and farming in the Central valley. Look at Mendota, when there is no food to grow, there is no jobs, and no commerce. There are quite a few local farming communities just like Mendota that may simply vanish if the farmers are not given a drought resistant crop. One that requires very little water, no pesticides, and will grow in depleted soils and in all climates, all while replenishing the damaged top soil for all future crops there after. well Guess what? Hemp is the undisputed king of soil rejuvenation in the plant kingdom.

(From-Hemphasis.net) –  It helps detoxify and regenerate the soil. Falling leaves and shrubs not used in processing fall to the ground and replenish the soil with nutrients, nitrogen, and oxygen. This rich organic mulch promotes the development of fertile grassland. Some of the carbon which is “breathed” in by the plant in the form of CO2 is left in the roots and crop residues in the field. The CO2 is broken down by photosynthesis into carbon and oxygen, with oxygen being aspirated back into the atmosphere. With each season more CO2 is reduced from the air and added to the soil.

Hemp roots absorb and dissipate the energy of rain and runoff, which protects fertilizer, soil, and keeps seeds in place. Hemp plants slow down the velocity of runoff by absorbing moisture. By creating shade, hemp plants moderate extreme variations in temperatures, which conserves moisture in the soil. Hemp plants reduce the loss of topsoil in windy conditions. Hemp plants also loosen the earth for subsequent crops. Hemp plants can even pull nuclear toxins from the soil. In fact hemp was planted near and around the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site to pull radioactive elements from the ground. The process is called phyto-remediation, which means using plants (phyto) to clean up polluted sites. Phyto-remediation can be used to remove nuclear elements, and to clean up metals, pesticides, solvents, crude oil, and other toxins from landfills. Hemp breaks down pollutants and stabilizes metal contaminants by acting as a filter. Hemp is proving to be one of the best phyto-remediative plants found.

The minimum benefit of a hemp crop is in its use as a rotation crop. Since hemp stabilizes and enriches the soil farmers grow crops on, and provides them with weed-free fields, without cost of herbicides, it has value even if no part of the plant is being harvested and used. Any industry or monetary benefit beyond this value is a bonus. Rotating hemp with soy reduces cyst nematodes, a soy-decimating soil parasite, without any chemical input. Hemp could be grown as a rotation crop and not compete with any other food crops for the most productive farmland. Marginal lands make fine soil for hemp, or hemp can be grown in between growing seasons.

Green uncle samNow lets focus a little more on Jobs, growth and the economy of the Central Valley and what Hemp can do to help things GROW. (Bad Pun Alert) According to Chris Conrad, a respected authority on cannabis and industrial hemp and who authored Hemp for Health and Hemp, Lifeline to the Future, the industry would be regionally sustainable, reviving the local economy wherever it was grown. “Hemp will create jobs in some of the hardest-hit sectors of the country — rural agriculture, equipment manufacturing, transportable processing equipment and crews — and the products could serve and develop the same community where the hemp is farmed: building ecological new homes, producing value-added and finished products, marketing and so forth,” he writes in an e-mail from Amsterdam, where he is doing research. ” Add to that all the secondary jobs — restaurants, health care, food products, community-support networks, schools, etc., that will serve the workers. The Central Valley of California would see a surge of income, growth, jobs and consumer goods.”

Hemp-Field_combo1Are you aware that the United States is the #1 importer of Hemp in the world? Do you know why? Are you aware that the United States remains the only industrialized nation that refuses to distinguish Hemp from its sibling, Cannabis? (Most commonly known by its racially fueled given name Marijuana) Our United States government considers Hemp a Schedule 1 narcotic, worse than cocaine, meth, and opium, and lists it on the Controlled Substance Act alongside its non toxic cousin and prohibits its cultivation. Did you know a Hemp Bill passed in California 2 years ago and the Govinator vetoed it citing the bill conflicted with federal law? Do you honestly believe Cannabis is illegal 100% because its bad for you and everyone else? If you do, I do not blame you! Every single generation has been kept in the dark and lied to about Cannabis. Brainwashed into believing things like Cannabis kills brain cells, or smoking marijuana will give you man boobs and make you infertile. All lies and myths to keep you from knowing the REAL truth. Cannabis Hemp is the people’s plant. There is no other plant on the planet that can lift the poorest of our world out of economic despair. There is no other plant on the planet that can stop deforestation and replace fossil fuels, petroleum derived synthetics, and end our dependency on Oil. There is no other plant in the world that can provide you with, Food, Clothes, Housing, Energy, and medicine by just simply growing it on your property.

Fresno signBeing a 2nd generation, born and raised resident of the Central Valley I have taken it upon myself to educate anyone and everyone about what Hemp and Cannabis can do for this area. I think it’s harder for the older generations to truly believe this due to the mass amounts of reefer madness they were forced to endure throughout their lives. It might also be that they watched a lot of good people get arrested and severely punished for something so minor as smoking a marijuana cigarette, possessing plant matter, or god forbid, grew a non toxic plant. That is understandable. I understand that most of the Central Valley considers itself to be more conservative and traditional. If that is the case then let’s get back to the way things really use to be. Minus the reefer Madness of course. Lets get back to producing Hemp in California. We already host the worlds 5th largest economy here in California. Imagine how much the entire state would have already benefited had Arnold Schwarzenegger not vetoed the state bill 2 years prior.

lobbyists2We all know the politicians are paid off by the very corporations who insured Hemps prohibition in the first place right? So that makes things a little more difficult but not impossible. This very scenario and situation in which we face right now is nothing new. The state of California has a people’s initiative process. It not only has one, it paved the way for 23 other states to do the same thing. In 1911, an amendment to the California Constitution established the California initiative process, giving voters the right to enact legislation. In other words, it gave the voters a power equal to the power of legislative branch of state government. This movement toward direct democracy was part of increasing popular demand across the country in the late 1800s for social and political reform. In California, progressives concerned about the influence that monied interests, such as the Southern Pacific Railroad, exercised over the legislature led the movement. In the Midwest, the populist movement included an effort by citizens to establish the initiative and referendum process to deal with government corruption. As the groundswell grew, in 1897, Nebraska allowed cities to include the initiative and referendum in their charters. By the end of the 19th century, states were amending their constitutions to include the initiative and referendum power. Currently there are 24 states that have some form of initiative and referendum procedures.

Flower to the peopleThe California Initiative process can also be a double-edged sword. There are a lot of wealthy “individuals” who own a lot of “stock” in certain “companies” who plan on “funding” certain initiatives in California that legalize Cannabis in very “specific” ways that will most likely “benefit” a few wealthy individuals or “Board Members.” The saddest and most obvious fact of all is, they don’t even touch the topic of industrial Hemp, nor do they even pretend to care in most cases. Most of them are more concerned about limiting the amount you possess or the amount you can cultivate on your own personal property. So at the same time we must all be very informed and educated on who is financing and providing funds to these initiatives. I can personally assure you from personal experience that there is only 1, all grassroots, volunteer, people funded and operated initiative and campaign out there that’s main focus has always been about restoring Hemp in California. It’s the Jack Herer Initiative. The California Cannabis Hemp Initiative 2016. They are the only ones publicly asking for donations and funds to register and qualify the initiative for the 2016 ballot. I guess the rest already have money and funding behind them and thats why they are not asking or concerned about it. That in itself should raise some red flags.

grassrootsNot a single other initiative is publicly holding events stating they need exactly 900,000 – 100,000,000 dollars for the specific reason of paying professional petitioners to insure the CCHI qualifies for the ballot. The CCHI 2014 campaign came very close to qualifying in 2014 on a volunteer basis only. This is reality folks. The CCHI is asking for you to read the initiative and make up your own mind and decide if you support it, and if you could possibly donate whatever you can spare to help them pay professional petitioners to qualify it for the 2016 presidential ballot. because the other campaigns already have funding to do the exact same thing. If we want to guarantee the CCHI qualifies for the 2016 ballot they need serious donations or thousands of motivated volunteers. The others are merely holding round tables pretending like your opinion counts or matters. When the real truth is they already have a plan, a scheme, and apparently its well-financed. Imagine that! I wonder what they have in store for all the average consumers of cannabis in California in those 28 page initiatives? I can also tell you one initiative that has already filed, while claiming its an open document, plans on making cannabis DUI’s on skateboards and bicycles a reality for the future of California. Thank you? seriously?

0110_monto_hemp_t325I mean the CCHI is not just about re-legalizing the responsible adult Consumption of Cannabis for adults 21 and over in a complicated regulatory way like most initiatives. It’s mainly about re-legalizing industrial Hemp in California. It always has been. It’s about returning a Clean and renewable energy source to the California economy. It’s about growing abundant amounts of the planets most nutritional seed for human consumption. It’s about cleaning the polluted air we breathe with mother natures best plant at converting CO2 to oxygen. Replenishing and rejuvenating the damaged over fertilized soils we cultivate with natures #1 plant at restoring damaged soil. Dropping our dependency on foreign oil and producing clean renewable energy right here at home. Producing clean, natural and biodegradable plastics from Hemp instead of petroleum-based synthetic plastics that pollute the air while being refined, and pollute the land and ocean after use. It’s about choosing a safer, smarter and healthier alternative for us, the planet and all future generations.

So I urge you to please read the California Cannabis Hemp Initiative 2016 and decide for yourself whether you like or disagree with it. It won’t take long it is only 2 pages of sensible regulations that is very easy to read and understand. The California cannabis Hemp Initiative is the Job creator and economic booster the Central Valley and Californians desperately need to progress forward into a cleaner and more sustainable future for everyone. Hemp is the key to saving the Central Valley and California’s economy. The California Cannabis Hemp Initiative is working very hard to make that a reality and they NEED our help. They need the people to stand up, support, donate, and volunteer to make this a reality. There are no heavily financed fat cats promising to fund them.  So please go to their website and read over the initiative, if you agree with the initiative and want to se it succeed please donate whatever you can spare, or volunteer to be coordinator in your county or city. It’s up to the people of California to make this a reality.

The Marijuana Mafia

This site is a must read for all serious cannabis activists. It does a great job defining and pointing out the underlying and systemic problems that plague the cannabis community as a whole.

The Green Pulpit

The Marijuana Mafia is an important topic to discuss in relation to the decriminalization of medical marijuana; it’s not your typical mafia, sure it has its relations to your traditional mob organizations and drug cartels but it exists autonomous nonetheless, and has asserted itself in a very clever manner into not only the Cannabis industry and culture but has also manipulated discussion of medical marijuana at the highest levels of political discourse. Who are these Mafiosi? When one thinks of a marijuana kingpin, a super hippie-tized libertarian warlord or possibly a well dressed Mexican businessman? But that would simply be too obvious. No, the marijuana mafia is a clever bunch and they have hidden themselves the best way possible, right under our noses in plain sight.

These masters of medical wickedness have cleverly manipulated the intentions of Proposition 215 in California since its inception in the early 1990s and have…

Hey California! Fresno called, they want there pre-1996 marijuana laws back.

Only in Fresno, I tell ya! Only in Fresno California could the vast amounts of misinformation be seen as evidence to support the passing of an ordinance that prohibits any and all cultivation of  Cannabis. Retroactively handing all cultivation back over to the black market and criminal enterprises. Wait it gets worse! They have also retroactively criminalized the California legal qualified patients themselves through land use and zoning ordinances. Yup that’s right! What the people of California made Legal, Fresno has made Re-illegal!?. They have even found a way to circumvent the due process of law when it comes to qualified medicinal cannabis cultivators.  First they mail them a certified letter threatening to fine you administratively $1000 for every plant on the property. The county’s 15 Day Notice tells the grower they have to remove all plants within 15 days, or face extremely stiff  administrative penalties. In the only 2 cases on record so far, the abatement was done on the same day the individuals were given their 15 Day Notice to abate. does that sound like due process? Wait? Do you feel these fines and levees against you are unjustifiable and unwarranted?  Don worry you can always appeal to the Fresno county board of supervisors and hope they understand that your a legal qualified medical marijuana patient of the state California, and not of Fresno. The Fresno county board of supervisors has implemented such an evasive ordinance that it not only circumvents the true written intent of the (CUA). It circumvents the very constitution of California.

Well it still gets worse unfortunately. No dispensaries or medicinal cannabis store fronts or collectives allowed either. So they have also retroactively returned all access, or purchases to the criminal enterprises and black market. The only viable options left for the legal medicinal cannabis patients are traveling to other progressive cities and counties within California that does not seem to have regressive leadership or governance. Which in turn puts huge financial and travel burdens upon the medicinal cannabis patients. Or the final and last result, simply move away from there delusional ideals of governance that exist in this time warp called Fresno.  Welcome to my home town people  Where the  boards of supervisors and city councils are the deciding factor and regulator of your health, medicine, and well being over the recommendations of a licensed physician. Where local law enforcement continually suggests that the Drug Cartels and criminal enterprises should have 100% control of all Cannabis grown in Fresno so they can better serve and protect you. Does any of this make sense to you? Welcome to the wild, wild west of Fresno folks, where the dumb folk roam, and the skies are all smoggy all day!

The City and County of Fresno has gone far beyond just banning large illegal commercial cannabis grows in there districts and county. (Those where already illegal ) They have thwarted the the intent of the (CUA) compassion use act of 1996.  Or as its more commonly known and referred to as, Prop 215.  They act as if the law never existed in the first place. Not only trampling on the (CUA)-Prop-215, but the later clarifications of the (MMPA) Medical Marijuana Program Act of 2003. Or as it is more commonly known and referred to as SB-420. Senate Bill-420 was an act of the legislators that helped further clarify and define the guidelines of the (CUA) because Law enforcement in places like FRESNO county were continually arresting qualified legal patients. The actions of these misinformed law enforcement and local governments out right thwarted the intent of the law as written and passed by the voting populous of California.

No legal cultivation allowed at all. No legal indoor cultivation in the privacy of your own home. No legal outdoor cultivation on the privacy of your own property. No legal dispensaries or store fronts in your own city or county. All through the power of land use and zoning?  But the Fresno county health department will gladly take the peoples money and there doctors recommendation and supply them with a (MMPA) California State Medical Marijuana Card, with a Fresno county health department logo on it.  You can even get your doctors  recommendation directly through the Fresno county health dept. Through one of there licensed physicians.  So the County of Fresno is not only participating in the (MMPA) SB-420, its profiting from the state medical marijuana card program then turning around and telling those qualified patients to access there medicine anywhere but in Fresno? Oh, and good luck out there, I here, it can be pretty shady. Does this make sense to you? Is it legal? I am not lawyer, but I am pretty sure there is some illegal activity taking place here.

you know that old saying? Ignorance of the law is no excuse? Well have you ever considered applying that phrase on those who continually love to throw it in your face. Well the Sheriffs department, Local police department, and Local governments of Fresno are all  guilty of that very thing and are hoping the common voter never discovers that. For if you did, you would find that the only people acting as criminals and tyrannical thugs are the ones wearing the suits, costumes and uniforms of local Law enforcement, City Attorneys, and the elected representatives of Fresno. In my personal opinion it is an outright infringement of not only our California constitutional rights. It is also an outright infringement of  our United States constitutional rights. Now bare in mind, I am no lawyer or law professor. and this is no way to be construed as legal advice.  But I am pretty sure Banning me from access to my medicine recommended by a licensed physician is infringing on my right to “Life”.  Banning me from cultivating my medicine on my own personal property, whether indoors or out is infringing on my my right to “Property” and “Life”. And both of those actions are inherently infringing on my right to “Happiness”. Are you catching on here people ?

Law enforcement never has and never will want to decriminalize anything. Especially Cannabis. That is one of Law enforcement’s “bread and butter’s” shall we say. More Specifically it is one of Margaret Mimms of the Fresno county Sheriffs departments personal blundered legacies she plans on leaving behind her. It would also appear that the Fresno city chief of police Jerry Dyer seems to be riding her coat tails with exact same nonsense. Margaret Mimms headed up the Marijuana Eradication task force here in Fresno county. Unfortunately her and many other small sheriffs dept statewide have been confusing and arresting qualified legal patients since the passing of prop-215 (CUA). The very Reason SB-420 (MMPA) was drafted and passed in 2003. To further clarify prop-215 (CUA). Either they where confused or ignorant of the law, or they simply didn’t give two flying farts to the wind either which way.  That would put to many good officers on the unemployment line. As if to say needing less police is a bad thing? or focusing those officers attention to more pressing criminal matters is a bad thing. Therefore when they don’t like laws passed by the legislators, or governing bodies they simply ignore them as if they never existed to begin with. Hence the ignorance that billows about the room at these very council and supervisor meetings in regards to the actual law as written. 95% percent of the time the elected representatives only repeat and spew out what is interpreted and handed to them by Law enforcement. Never the actual law as written and defined. that is a serious problem folks. How the (CUA) was written is not the true problem at play here.

Have any of you ever read the California constitution? Did you know unlike most of the states in the union, here in California the people have the unique ability to pass there own laws through the statewide voter initiative process. Well that is exactly what happened with prop-215 (CUA). it was not law enforcement or the legislators that authored and circulated prop-215. It was the grassroots activists and citizens of California that wrote, circulated, and passed prop-215 (CUA).  Did you know that not even the highest California legislators in the land can change the  laws passed by the voter initiative process? The only way to to change voter initiatives is by another voter proposed initiative. The California constitution states, “what the voters have done, the Legislature cannot undo.” Interesting!? Well if you can not undo it? what do you do if you don’t like it? pretend it does not apply? Or simply imply it was so vaguely written as to allow certain localities to opt out or not participate in way shape or form? NO, it does not work that way. But is that not essentially what Fresno is trying to accomplish here with the passing of this unlawful ordinance? If the Legislator Cannot undo what the voters have done? Neither can the  city and county of Fresno right?  No matter how much they hate it. No matter how vague there interpretation. The legalese, wording and actual intent remain the same and can only be changed by the voters. are you starting to truly understand the malicious hatred and fury this ignites in law enforcement and the governing bodies its controls? This is truly of, for, and by the people governing. something they have no control over. And regardless of  Prop-215 and SB-420’s flaws, We the people should, and shall defend it with dignity and due diligence. regardless of whether or not you like or dislike Cannabis. This not just a game of politics anymore. If the only law Fresno answers to is the laws written of, by and for Fresno? are they circumventing state laws themselves ?

I would now like to raise some very concerning questions and points of notice in regards to this intrusive unconstitutional ordinance being forced down the unwilling peoples of Fresno’s throats. Question #1 – Could you possibly conceive that the county board of supervisors, or city council representatives in the city in which you reside where the ultimate dictators and regulators of access to you medicine, health and well being, over the recommendation of a licensed physician? Is this an oligarchy or a democratic republic in which we reside? Question #2- Do you Honestly believe that passing this ordinance will curtail the illegal activity and crime associated with cannabis cultivation? Because the sad truth is, your only insuring that all cannabis cultivation is  a criminal act. Including legally qualified medicinal cultivation. Which directly conflicts with the peoples law of California and protections guaranteed by the California constitution.

The plain and simple truth is the only way to insure you lower criminal activity associated with Cannabis is by decriminalizing, legalizing and properly regulating the legal industry which arises. Weather it is strictly a model for only legal qualified medical patients, or a model for outright recreational use for responsible adult consumption. The very reason people steal, kill and commit crimes over or for Cannabis is because of the very laws that prohibit it. And the fact they will fetch a very high price in the illegal black market created by its prohibition. Where the demand never really went away by choice or organic methods.  It was forced out by unnecessary and unjustifiable means.  If  it where Legal, easily accessible and cultivated by everyone in there yards, and  sensibly regulated and controlled it would be easily accessible to all. and you wouldn’t have Criminals jumping fences and killing people over a natural plant. effectively eliminating the intrinsic criminal enterprises and aspects of the failed models of prohibition. Wake up People of Fresno! we do not have to continually stand by while these regressive leaders of our governing bodies are constantly trying to move the progressive needle backwards. We must stand up and be heard. For they will continue to oppress and and trample on anything and everything they deem a NUISANCE.  Remember this point right here! the very reason they hold that much power is because we willingly sent them there to speak for us. Citizens and people of Fresno, Stand up and speak for yourselves!

Fresno County Banning Cannabis Cultivation.

Let me start by saying that I have been to my fair Share of County, and City supervisor meetings. Even a few planning commission hearings as well here in Fresno.  The most prominent notion in regards to Medicinal Cannabis that is thrown around is the notion that every single cultivator of Cannabis is a Criminal, or is somehow involved in Criminal activity associated with Cannabis. By either abusing the medicinal cannabis program set in place and not following the guidelines, which they do not seem to want to draft any sensible regulations on behalf of the patients.  Nor do they seem to care, quite frankly. Then there is always Margret Mimms and our local supervisors favorite and most popular line of defense,  Any and every single plant is illegal at the federal level, therefore we have a zero tolerance policy on the basis of all cannabis cultivation is a federal crime. If I had a $100 bucks every time I heard them say “it’s all illegal on the federal level”. I would be wealthy man.

Well in no way shape or form should Margret Mimms, or any other California law enforcement officer be enforcing or even suggesting Federal law within the state of California. Let alone a county supervisor. It is the duty of the Sheriff, as well as the district attorney to enforce state laws. The federal Government cannot compel state law enforcement. The Supreme Court has even stated that Congress cannot require state officers to enforce federal law. The court said that  ” the constitution contemplates that a states government will represent and remain accountable to its own citizens.” So when are they going to be held accountable for suggesting we enforce federal law within our states borders, Over the laws passed by the citizens of California?

Well I hate to be the bearer of Bad news, (Not Really) But, These are exactly that, nonsensical notions with no factual statistics to support them.  Do not get me wrong though, there are plenty of illegal grows on state and federal property that need eradicating and proper policing. There are also people within the system that do abuse it. You will find that in just about every system though. And yes those are criminals in which I believe deserve the full brunt of law enforcement. What I do not understand is why local law enforcement and county supervisors seem to conveniently confuse, or purposely bunch criminals and qualified patients together. Coincidence? Two birds, one stone. It’s pretty convenient on behalf of the supervisors. They just allow Law enforcement to do what they do best. Policing.  And it allows our county and city supervisors to never have to tackle the tough job of working on sensible regulations that are desperately needed for the Fresno citizens that are LEGAL California Prop-215 and SB-420 medicinal marijuana patients. It’s a win, win,  for everybody but the patients of course.

The worst part of it is. That the very criminals you are trying to prevent are the very same people set to make larger profits from the criminal black market, effectively increasing crime. Because you successfully eradicated the patient’s ability to either purchase from a licensed facility, known as a collective or a dispensary. And through this outdoor cultivation ban you are once again going to completely diminish the LEGAL California Prop-215 and SB-420 medicinal marijuana patients ability to produce quality outdoor medicine for themselves on their own property. Prop-215 Patients ability to cultivate their own plants outdoors is crucial to not only greater access, cheaper medicine, better quality, but increased safety as well.

Forcing patients to only cultivate indoors is far too expensive for the average patients who are usually on fixed incomes. Most are on disability and cannot cultivate for themselves. Hence the need for Collective grow sites that require larger numbers of plants for those who are disabled and cannot produce their own medicine by their own means or on their own property. We are not just talking about putting a few light bulbs above a few plants in the bath tub. To equal what can be produced outdoors, patients would have to spend upwards of 5000 to 10,000 dollars to produce a room that is up to code and efficient enough to produce what can easily be done by Mother Nature. Not to mention the high amounts of energy consumption that must also be paid annually for each harvest. Along with things like, soil, nutrients, pots, and so many other hidden costs that simply make it ineffective to ban outdoor cultivation. If we want to stay true to the requirements of the compassionate use act, Banning outdoor cultivation is not an effective method of creating greater access for qualified patients. However it is an effective method of avoiding the tough questions and hard work of coming up with sensible regulations for patients, and law enforcement to abide by.  Thus making it easier to identify the criminals.

So what? We are all just simply criminals now, and should all be treated as such?  That is not very compassionate. I think it is important to note the actual name of Prop-215, the Compassionate use act of 1996. That is why I am writing this today. That is why I am going to read this very post before the Fresno county board of supervisors today. Compassion! I do it for the patients who can’t raise their voices in opposition here today. I do it for the patients that I have personally witnessed amazing life altering changes thanks to cannabis. I am here because I take great pride and solace in seeing the Joy cannabis brings to those who are bright enough to look past the lies and see the truth for themselves. And that is what I ask all of you here today to please consider today,  Have some compassion and some consideration for those that you are so blindly throwing out along with the bath water.

( UPDATE ) Fresno city’s BAN on outdoor cultivation.

Recent chatter in the airways suggests the Ordinance regarding outdoor cultivation of medicinal cannabis within the city limits of Fresno Ca, will be on the June 21st Agenda. So here we go again! Only this time it’s with the city council and not the county. The one thing I can say is that the city of Fresno’s ordinance is a lot less restrictive by leaps and bounds. The Fresno County medical marijuana Ordinance is extremely restrictive. Here is a quick summary of the Fresno County medical marijuana ordinance in regards to cultivation.

So any patient that has the poor misfortune of living in the county has to meet all the requirements listed above. Even for personal cultivation? Yes! Fresno county’s ordinance is one of, if not the states most restrictive ordinance in regards to Cultivation, Use, distribution and possession in the entire state of California. Well now we have the city of Fresno planning to do the same thing.

( Here is a link of the proposed ordinance )

So for all of those patients out there who provide themselves with outdoor grown medicine on their own property every year will no longer be allowed to grow directly under the sun within the city limits. They will now have to spend 100’s to 1000’s of dollars building a secure structure for their medicinal garden. Much like the county’s ordinance we see they have chosen to restrict access to the cheapest and most affordable way of providing yourself with quality affordable medicinal cannabis. Cultivating your own medicinal cannabis is one of the only fail safe ways to ensure the patient knows the quality, the strain, and the grade of the medicinal cannabis.

Once again the local Fresno governing bodies choose to restrict patients access instead of addressing and correcting the real underlying issues. Most of the qualified patients that use medicinal cannabis are on a limited income, disability, social security, chemotherapy patients, cancer patients, H.I.V Patients, and many more ailments that already restrict their access and ability to cultivate their own medicine. Now the city of Fresno is telling those “Over-Qualified” patients they can’t even grow those plants on their own property. Most of these patients are already suffering in these low economic times from there overpriced healthcare costs. Now the City of Fresno wants to tack 100’s of 1000’s of dollars to an already struggling patient.

Does any of this seem fair to you ? Sure as hell don’t to me! What if the only relief or cure you found for your ailment or sickness was kicked around like a political football up and down the state. And your local city council or county supervisors decide that your medicine is too much of a health and safety risk for the citizens. Now the only thing that increases your appetite after chemotherapy, or relieves your completely disabling migraines, or help to stimulate and increase the function of your weakened immune system from the H.I.V Virus that is attacking it IS GONE. Walk a mile in the shoes of a qualified medicinal patient before you come to such restrictive ordinances and regulations.

The people and qualified patients of Fresno City and county deserve better than this. These qualified patients need acceptance, understanding and compassion, not restrictive ordinances that go against the very purposes of a voter approved proposition passed 16 years ago. I am only 1 man! But I am able-bodied and willing to fight and educate on behalf of those medicinal cannabis patients that can’t. We need the medicinal cannabis patients and community to show up at the Fresno City Council meeting this June 21, 2012. These elected representatives need to see that the medicinal cannabis patients really have a face and in fact are, Mothers, Fathers, daughters, Sons, Grandfathers, grandmothers, Black, Hispanic, White, Hmong, Asian and everything else I left out. We are the medicinal cannabis community, and we aint going nowhere. We are here to stay ! And I will be damned if I allow this to happen in my hometown without a fight. So I urge all patients and supporters of medicinal cannabis to start educating the masses here in Fresno, Ca. Sit down for an hour and put your thoughts to paper. Create a respectful 3 minute presentation on how this will affect you and the medicinal patients of Fresno, Ca. Then show up at the city council meeting and share that with the Fresno City Council members. Nobody is going to show up and do it for us. Untill the City of Fresno Understands the struggles of the medicinal cannabis patient and forms regulations and ordinances that truly address these issues in a compassionate and respectful way, I WONT STOP, AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU !

Make a difference this 420

It is almost 4/20, the cannabis community’s one and only holiday. Were all who consume the amazing cannabis plant proclaim their love for mother earths most vital resource, cannabis hemp. Many tokers, smokers, growers and medicators celebrate this day in many different ways. But this 4/20 we must try to make a real difference in which the average american perceives the average cannabis consumer and provider. We must break the stereotypes’ of un-productive, lazy, drains on society. We must show them that we are responsible adults, who live productive lives.

How do we do this ? Every single person who consumes cannabis for any reason or even believes that cannabis should be legal for responsible consumption must come out of the closet and proclaim to the world there use and love for the cannabis plant this 4/20. There is no reason why a responsible adult who consumes cannabis on his or her own time and in his or her own house, shouldnt have the same rights as those who consume alcohol. Cannabis in its known history, has had ZERO recorded cases of overdose. Approximately 2.5 million people die each year from alcohol related causes. “Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health.” So why should the cannabis consumer live his or her life in discrimination simply because he or she chooses a natural non toxic plant to relax or medicate.

This 4/20 there is a lot you can do to make a difference for the cannabis community. This 4/20 become a member of Norml, The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. They are the nations longest running lobbyist group for the cannabis consumer.

There is also a Anonymous operation taking place on 4/20 called, #Opcannabis420. They are calling for all who support cannabis legalization to turn all of your social media profiles green in a show of solidarity. Call your government representatives and let them know you want them to do something to stop the prohibition of cannabis hemp. Find out if there are any local protests or marches in your area on 4/20. Lets get out there in force and demand equality for the cannabis consumer. It’s all up to us, we must unite and demand equality for the cannabis community for ourselves, nobody is going to do it for us. So I urge all of you who really seek changes in our cannabis hemp laws and policies to get out there and let your voice be heard and make the impact we need to make those changes.

I will leave with this final and parting request for 4/20, I ask all who celebrate 4/20, when the clock strikes 4:19 please give a moment of silence and remembrance for the great Jack Herer. He was a special man who shared the truth about cannabis hemp with the world. It is up to us to carry on Jacks legacy and dreams of Re-legalizing cannabis hemp for future generations and the planet.

Now you get what you want, do you want more ?

The title of this post comes to me from the song —  Want more —  as made famous by Bob Marley. In light of the recent raid on Oaksterdam University on April 4th 2012  by the federal government, I felt that the words to this song never rang so true. Now you get what you want, do you want more ? So as a Medicinal Cannabis consumer I ask you, do you want more ? Because the last 16 years has been nothing but a struggle for the average medicinal cannabis consumer, provider, and grower to provide, or receive access to those very medicines. Could you imagine the feds raiding your house because of your choice of medicine ? Imagine if the feds kicked down the doors of all the pharmacies on every corner and you no longer had access to your life saving medications. That is exactly what is happening here in California as we speak. Regardless of what your personal bias or opinions of Cannabis ( Marijuana ) may be, The Law is still the Law.

–( Now you get what you want, do you want more ? )–  -Chorus- by Bob Marley

( Compliments of Wikipedia ) –> Proposition 215, or the Compassionate Use Act of 1996,[1] is a California law concerning the use of medical cannabis. It was enacted, on November 5, 1996, by means of the initiative process, and passed with 5,382,915 (55.6%) votes in favor and 4,301,960 (44.4%) against. The proposition was a state-wide voter initiative authored by Dennis Peron, Anna Boyce [RN], Valerie Corral,[2] Dale Gieringer, Thomas Seiler, William Panzer, Scott Imler,[3] and psychiatrist Tod H. Mikuriya, and approved by California voters. It allows patients with a valid doctor’s recommendation, and the patient’s designated Primary Caregivers, to possess and cultivate marijuana for personal medical use, and has since been expanded to protect a growing system of collective and cooperative distribution. The Act added Section 11362.5 to the California Health and Safety Code.

–( You think it’s the end, But it’s just the beginning. )–  -Line-1 -Verse-1-  -Want more-  by Bob Marley

16 years, you would think we would have it all figured out by now right ? Wrong ! California law enforcement has been having a hay day arresting any and all Cannabis consumers regardless of legality. Why you ask ? Because they can, 215 truly only gives you a legal defense within the state of California. So it all boils down to one simple tactic for Law enforcement, arrest them all and let the courts sort it out. Which in turn  only further restricts access and further strengthens the black markets grasp over California’s #1 cash crop. Yes though it remains illegal for responsible adult consumption, Cannabis beats out Grapes for California’s #1 cash crop. Not a single dime of that money for Cannabis is taxed or regulated.

Now in some part’s of California you will find cities and counties that have adopted ordinances and regulations that call for certain taxes and revenues generated from Medicinal Cannabis Collectives, dispensaries, and store front operations to be paid to the city or county. Even more counties and cities here in California have outright banned Collectives and dispensaries. If you were to look at the above picture of the Prop 215 election turnout, almost everywhere seen in green has some form of regulation and tax revenue and allowance in place. Everything in red has nothing and many of these cities and counties have gone as far as to outright bans that are still being challenged in court. Here we have the most neediest of the Cannabis Community being the only one’s providing tax revenues, and in most cases showing up in drones at city and county board meetings begging for regulations. While at the same time they watch the laws intended to protect them get kicked around like a political football. Which in turn only leads to further confusion, and further restricts access to the those who truly need cannabis.

–( They stab you in the back And they claim that you’re not looking.)–  -Line-1- -verse-2- -Want more- By-Bob Marley

In 2009 the Obama administration issued a statement suggesting to prosecutors not seek to the arrest of medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines, and it is 2012 and last I checked Obama is still president. Here are some of Obama’s quotes prior to his election.

— “I don’t think that should be a top priority of us, raiding people who are using … medical marijuana. With all the things we’ve got to worry about, and our Justice Department should be doing, that probably shouldn’t be a high priority.” (June 2, 2007, town hall meeting in Laconia, New Hampshire)

–“The Justice Department going after sick individuals using [marijuana] as a palliative instead of going after serious criminals makes no sense.” (July 21, 2007, town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire)

—  “You know, it’s really not a good use of Justice Department resources.” (responding to whether the federal government should stop medical marijuana raids, August 13, 2007, town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire)

Then why is he doing exactly what he explained to the American public was a waste of D.O.J resources ? If he was a man who practiced what he preached, why then was Oaksterdam raided just a few days ago ? Why then have countless other collectives and medical marijuana patients who are compliant within there state still facing persecution or possible forfeiture of property and finances ? The entire cannabis community united behind president Barack Obama during the 2008 election cycle. It seemed as if we had a presidential nominee wo wasnt afraid of discussing the hypocrisy of our cannabis ( Marijuana ) laws. But here we are in April of 2012 and we witnessed one of the longest operating and industry forging leaders get reduced to rubble by the federal government, not to mention more D.O.J resources wasted.

So, Now you get what you want, do you want more ?

In my personal opinion, HELL NO ! I believe we can do better. We must now unite under one common cause that helps the entire cannabis community as a whole. One of the biggest problems plaguing the cannabis community today is the separation of qualified patients and the recreational users . Though the majority of the medicinal community still smoke their cannabis as a regular form of medicating, to the average Joe, you look just like you’re getting stoned. Not to mention people associate smoking with leisure and relaxation, which is also something commonly associated with “stoners”. Until we have TRUE medical Cannabis that is controlled, studied and tested by scientists and doctors these stereotypes will continue to plague the Medicinal cannabis consumer. The medicinal consumer will always be lumped in with the stoner, so long as he looks and acts like one. you know the old saying, if it looks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it must be a duck ! Even the Great Jack Herer originally opposed Prop 215 because it stopped at medical use only.

But the very same thing can be said for the stoners. just as there must be a place for the qialified patient, there must also be a place for use by the responsible adult consumer. In my personal opinion legalizing and regulating for responsible adult consumption is more important due to the sheer numbers of recreational cannabis consumers. This meaning the average Joe is more likely to encounter and interact with a stoner then a qualified patient. On May 31st, 2011. California NORML estimates that there are now over 750,000 medical marijuana users in the state, or  2% of the population. According to U.S. SAMHSA data, the total number of  users in the state, including non-medical ones, amounts to 6.7% of the population (2.5 million) within the past month, or 11.3% (4.1 million) within the past year. Now remember cannabis ( Marijuana ) is illegal, would you admit to a stranger that you use an illegal substance ? So these surveys are only estimates and according to these statistics, last year in 2011 there was 750,000 medical marijuana patients. In that same year there were 4.1 million people in TOTAL that admitted they consumed cannabis wether it be legal medical use or for recreational use. So that leaves us with a number of 3,350,000 recreational users to 750,000 qualified patients, so who do you think you are more likely to interact with ? So about 5.46% of all people included in this study are medical users. Based off of this study roughly 1 in 5 of all who consume cannabis ( Marijuana ) is medical.

This places California  only  slightly above the national average in marijuana use ( 6.0% monthly and 10.4% yearly). Use of marijuana by California school youth has declined  since Prop. 215 passed, according to data from the  Attorney General’s Survey of Student Drug Use in California.  The increase in medical marijuana use therefore appears to reflect a  tendency for existing users to “go medical,” rather than the enlistment of new users.  So instead of reforming our cannabis laws, we force those 4 out 5 cannabis consumers to use only medical or take the risk of criminal prosecution. These laws are tailored to favor the minority and not the majority, and even the minority has faced nothing but 16 years of opposition from local, state, and federal governing bodies. Dont get me wrong I know the medicinal powers of the cannabis plant, but I personally have witnessed cannabis do amazing things for people. That is why I believe we need REAL medical cannabis that is controlled by Scientists and Doctors who are working with and studying the many amazing compounds that make up the cannabis plant for measureable medical applications. What we have now with prop 215 is a quasi legal system that barely works for the minority, and the only ones clambering that things are just fine, are the Doctors writing the recommendations, Collective and dispensary owners, and growers profiting from the very system in place.

In the last 16 years the Cannabis movement as a whole has been making huge strides in gaining acceptance among the American public. Richard Lee and his Oaksterdam college have played a huge roll in the efforts to educate and advocate for medical cannabis and the legalization of cannabis. Richard Lee is the only dispensary owner that has ever funded a campaign to put himself out of business with prop 19. and by doing so he educated the nation even further to the many benefits of the cannabis plant. In my personal opinion Richard Lee can take partial claim to the recent polls showing 50% approval of legalizing cannabis. Now that’s not to say that prop 215 and the author Denis Peron and the many others who co-authored it didn’t play just as a big a role, if not a bigger role in educating the public about cannabis. But one thing I have always admired about Richard Lee is that he does not fear change, he embraces it. He has forged new and greater standards within our community. While at the same time advocating for all cannabis consumers and producers.

For the first time in American history 50% of Americans now say the use of marijuana should be made legal, Gallup first asked about legalizing marijuana, in 1969, 12% of Americans favored it, while 84% were opposed. Support remained in the mid 20’s in Gallup measures from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s, but has crept up since, passing 30% in 2000 and 40% in 2009 before reaching the 50% level in this year’s Oct. 6-9 annual Crime survey. THE TIME IS NOW ! we must unite as cannabis consumers and reform our laws to protect the majority, and not force the majority to abuse the minorities legal system.

 Letter from- Richard Lee

Why This Is Important

On Monday, April 2, my school — Oaksterdam University in Oakland — was raided by the DEA, IRS, and US Marshals. Oaksterdam provides training to the medical cannabis industry, and is fully compliant with state and local law.

President Obama promised at the beginning of his administration to respect state medical marijuana laws. He has broken this promise time and time again — and the consequences have been devastating.

This was a senseless act of intimidation. But I’ve been an activist far too long to become intimidated — and with the majority of Americans and common sense on our side, I know this is a fight we can win.

With our government trillions in debt, why is our government using taxpayer dollars to come after me, Oaksterdam, and the thousands of patients who need medical marijuana just to get through the day?

Tell President Obama and the DEA: Enough is enough. Keep your campaign promise, and stop the raids on the medical cannabis industry!

Thanks Richard Lee for all you have done for the cannabis community.

And they all closed down.

Did all of Fresno’s dispensary’s and collectives shut their doors ? From the research I have compiled, only one remains open to serve the Fresno medical marijuana community. I called the California herbal relief center to see if they were open, because they were the only ones still listed on Weedmaps. To my surprise they answered the phone, I said Hello and asked if they still remained open, the guy stuttered and hesetently replied ”  Yeah, Yeah, We are open “. So it would appear that one collective here in town has decided to keep its doors open, even in fear of the County ordinance. Though I must tell you when I called back again to ask some more questions, nobody answered.

The next step in the medical cannabis community may be delivered right to your front door. There seems to be a growing number of collectives and dispensary’s that are either offering or switching to delivery. To me, it makes sense to do delivery when it comes to the sick, disabled, and the most needy of the cannabis community. Lets be Real for a moment here people. A storefront is all a collective or dispensary really is.  And if your opening a storefront you will always be perceived as a business who makes profits in the public eye.

Now that’s not to say, that’s not exactly what some of these so-called collectives and dispensary’s intentions where. I myself am very glad that Mind, Body and Soul (SHIT-HOLE) closed their doors. Only Because I myself can assure that Jody Watkins and Shannon Luce the owners of Mind body and soul collective in Fresno ca, are former business consultants who took a course at oaksterdam in which they never even received a certificate of completion. But at the same time they pretend that they are the definitive source for medical marijuana in the Central Valley. When I first met them the only thing they knew about cannabis was the fact you could make money from selling it and how to run a business. When it came to Cannabis they knew very little to nothing on the subject other than what little they could remember from their course at oaksterdam. As a former employee of these Shmucks trust me when I say there only intentions where their profits and future profits that would be generated and nothing else.

But that is just my personal biast against one place here in Fresno. I believe we need collectives and dispensary’s here in Fresno. I just happen to really dislike and distrust Shannon Luce and Jody Watkins of Mind, Body and Soul (SHIT-HOLE) because of my own interactions with those scum. But what we do have here is perfect explanation of how the medical cannabis community can and is being abused by people who’s only intentions are the profits and the wealth that can be achieved from the sickest and most neediest of the Cannabis Community. As much as I have advocated for collectives and dispensary’s and I totally disagree with the ordinance put in place by fresno county and city. I am glad that at least one place, I know for a fact should be closed, is closed.

Will Fresno County shut them down ?

There are some major questions that need some serious answers in regards to the Fresno county ordinance, and what I believe is an Unlawful intrusion of Californians rights under state laws. The first question that comes to mind is always this, Can a city board of supervisors, or a county board of supervisors superced state laws and in fact disregard them and enact their own local laws through code enforcement ? Because that is exactly what is taking place here in Fresno, Ca.

Fresno’s ordinance is very unique and more restrictive to patients then most in the entire state. On July 12, 2011, Fresno County unanimously passed an ordinance to ban dispensaries and sharply restrict cultivation. It requires a “Medical MJ Cultivation Business License” for anyone seeking to grow in the county. Cultivation can only occur only in a secure, locked, enclosed structure in industrial zoning districts if 1,000 feet from any school, park, recreation area, sports facility, adult business, church, etc; maximum # of plants is 99. It also hands over all Code Enforcement over to the Local Fresno county sheriffs office. That is just the part on cultivation.

What about the collectives and clubs here in the county of Fresno ? the ordinance clearly states the following,

10.60.030 Medical Marijuana dispensary as a prohibited use:

A. A medical marijuana dispensary as defined in section 11.10.020 is a prohibited use in all zone districts in the County of Fresno.

And that is all they had to say about that. No beating around the bush with it, straight to the point with it. Now section 10.60.050 clearly states the following.

Any marijuana existing on the effective date of this ordinance, which does not conform to the provisions of this chapter, shall be regarded as non-conforming use which may be continued until six months after the effective date of this ordinance. On or before such date, all such non-conforming uses shall be terminated.

Now I am not exactly sure what that means in terms of exactly how they are gonna come down on them, but what i do know is they seem to have pretty clear stance on collectives and dispensary’s, NONE SHALL BE ALLOWED PERIOD ! The city and county board of supervisors and even the fresno police department and fresno county sheriffs office are wanting to prevent crime. Now everybody wants less crime and safer streets for their children to walk right ? Then banning of collectives and dispensary’s is not the way to go about it. It is a proven fact that where most of these collectives and dispensary’s are in the county of Fresno are in fact now safer being occupied with security guards and people watching the surrounding buildings. Not only that but it single-handedly provides a safe and comfortable environment for the a medical marijuana patient to get access to their medicine in a secure public location, most have security and very secure front doors.

As a parent of a 5-year-old boy, I would prefer that Medical marijuana patients who need access to their medicine go to a place like that then get it from some dealer on the black market. As a parent i know my 5-year-old, or a child of any age other than the age required by law or, if under age has adult permission, will not be getting access to cannabis through a collective or dispensary. That I can assure you ! and if they did, can you imagine the outrage ? As there should be. but at least there is a place or business to hold responsible or liable. On the streets and black markets there is no justice for those who sell to children, let alone the fact that they are more likely to have access to more deadly drugs then just marijuana, and they also do not check their patrons I.D’s. Collectives and dispensary’s without a doubt would and are reducing crime and increasing access to the people who need cannabis the most. Not only does Fresno take their citizens money for Medical marijuana cards issued by the Fresno county health department. They also have their own doctor on staff to offer their own reccomendations. Not only does Fresno profit from medical marijuana currently. It in turn uses those funds to abolish the very places in which you can get access to your medications in your county and city. They will give all you need to be legal to consume the plant, even take your money and provide with the qualified paperwork. Only to turn around tell you, you’re going to have to go somewhere else to get that stuff.

Now the Fresno county sheriff’s office, with administrative assistance from the department of public works and planning, shall have primary responsibility for enforcement of the provisions in this ordinance. Lets get this straight, because we are dealing with deadly criminals and drug king pins that are disguised as medical marijuana patients. At least that’s what the police and local law enforcement want you to believe because, they get a shitload of funding from the federal government to prevent any and all Cannabis cultivation, distribution and sales. Be it legal medical marijuana, or by any means necessary. And the Police do not want to lose that funding, Period !

So they portray the average medical marijuana patient as a criminal to the public. Everyone that is a provider for these patients is also considered a drug king pin. This is getting to be a bit ridiculous, don’t you think ? their is no other business or industry out there requires handing over the enforcement of code enforcement to Law enforcement. But when your dealing with those damn Hippies, disabled people, Sick and dying people, and people seeking natural alternatives to the daily poisons offered by the pharmaceutical company’s. The only way to get there point across and accomplish their goals of keeping there federal bankrolls coming in is to demonize those who have actually been gaining acceptance within their own communities.

Free all the Cannabis prisoners

Ok lets start with of the most recognized Cannabis prisoners, The one and only Prince of Pot, Marc Emery.  He is formerly a retailer of cannabis seeds for cultivation, having started Marc Emery Direct Marijuana Seeds in 1995, which he ran until it was closed by a raid by Vancouver police acting on the request of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on July 29, 2005. This has led to him being currently scheduled to be extradited to the United States for a sentence of five years.
Emery was taken into custody on September 28, 2009, and held at the North Fraser Pretrial Center in Port Coquitlam, BC, to await extradition to the USA. On November 18, 2009, Emery was released on bail, pending the Canadian Minister of Justice signing the extradition order; and on May 5, 2010, Justice Minister Rob Nicholson signed the order and ordered Emery to surrender to authorities, which he did that same day. The worst part was the statements of the US Department of Justice made after the extradition of Emery.

Here is the original text of DEA Administrator Karen Tandy’s statement released on July 29th, 2005:

Today’s DEA arrest of Marc Scott Emery, publisher of Cannabis Culture Magazine, and the founder of a marijuana legalization group — is a significant blow not only to the marijuana trafficking trade in the U.S. and Canada, but also to the marijuana legalization movement.

His marijuana trade and propagandist marijuana magazine have generated nearly $5 million a year in profits that bolstered his trafficking efforts, but those have gone up in smoke today.

Emery and his organization had been designated as one of the Attorney General’s most wanted international drug trafficking organizational targets — one of only 46 in the world and the only one from Canada.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars of Emery’s illicit profits are known to have been channeled to marijuana legalization groups active in the United States and Canada. Drug legalization lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on. So there you have the head of the DEA Admitting that Marc Emery’s arrest Was Political.

Charles Eddy Lepp is a 52-year old Vietnam vet who looks older. He has had coronary bypass surgery and talks in a rasp. Over the years he has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, manic depression, chronic back pain, skin cancer, and degenerative arthritis.  A  federal appeals court has upheld the conviction and the 10 year prison  sentence for medical marijuana advocate Eddy Lepp. He was accused of  growing 32,000 marijuana plants that he insisted were for medical  patients and his fellow Rastafarians. The cannabis was grown on his own  land in lake County California. Charles, “Eddy” Lepp was sent to prison  in 2009 by a federal judge, but became a legend after using the  courtroom as a platform for protesting cannabis laws.

Michael Hinckly, Lepp’s lawyer, argued that the 10  year prison sentence for the 57 year old veteran in ill health was  disproportionate for the crime. He was deeply disappointed by the  appeals court decision and called the thought of Lepp spending 10 years  in a prison cell tragic. Please support Eddy Lepp by sending him a card  in jail, and fighting for the rights of all cannabis users.

Now these are just two out of the millions of people rotting in a jail cell for a non violent drug offense. these people actually have high profiles that allow there storys to be heard and discussed by major activists groups and social media. But what about all those Jon and Jane Doe’s out there that don’t get herd or discussed about on facebook or twitter. Now I know we hear a lot about the High profile Cannabis prisoners of  the drug war, as we should. But There are literally millions of others out there who need a voice and someone to take action on their behalf.

This is why I like the CCHHI 2012 Initiative over all the other initiatives gathering signatures to get on the 2012 Ballot. Because as soon as it is inacted, all California cannabis prisoners will be set free and all marijuana criminal history destroyed. Now that is something I can get really get behind, and if the rest of the Cannabis community Cant, then we are way worse off then I or anyone ever imagined. I mean we sit here begging to see the end of prohibition, Yet we must not forget those already fallen victim to the Drug war.

Be warriors for your own freedom.

One thing all cannabis consumers hate is Prohibition. There is no more common ground than that. No matter what your personal interest or personal beliefs may be, the end game still remains the same. Nobody, Not Even the Pope himself can condemn or prohibit something so natural as the cannabis hemp plant. Did god not create this amazing plant ? What is the words of god on the Subject of the Cannabis Hemp plant ? well here are some biblical mentions and what some say refer specifically to the Cannabis Hemp plant in the holy bible.

(Genesis 1:29-31)– “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat.” … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. The Bible even speaks of the prohibition of such plants and Herbs. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3)– “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall … speak lies in hypocrisy … commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. The Bible also speaks of a special plant. (Ezekiel 34:29)–“I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.” The Bible also mentions a Healing plant. (Revelations 22:1-2)–A healing plant. On either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare 12 manner of fruits, and yielding her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Now i am in no way a religious person. but if you are and you don’t like Cannabis, Even your god would slap you and say “what the hell is wrong with you” ? Now if you are a religious person, which is totally cool with me by the way if you are. I believe the same right you have to believe in it, is the same right i have not to believe in it. and i do not judge a person by their beliefs, I judge them by their actions. Now if there was such a plant that the bible speaks about, and it in fact can do so much for mankind, and that god was so very proud of. why would any government, world leaders or hell even dictators prohibit such an amazing contribution to the world and there people. But yet that is the current status here in America and many other country’s worldwide for the cannabis plant. So if you’re not quite convinced on how or why the world needs the cannabis plant on a global scale now more then ever in human history. I am here to do my damnedest to convince you other wise.

So Here are some reasons why ending cannabis prohibition makes sense scientifically, socially, industrially, economically and i think we pretty much covered religiously. Now i want you take a seat before we dive into these topics. Now the reason i say that is. What I am about to tell you is going to blow your mind, anything and everything you have ever been told about cannabis or its slang term marijuana is a Lie. Yep ! Unless you happened to be someone educated to historical and modern uses of the cannabis plant by personal interests or for whatever reason. You would simply never know most of what you will find just here in this post, Let alone the fact that most of this is historically documented and can be researched and proven with factual evidence.

Here is some Basic information on the cannabis plant:

Botanically, Cannabis hemp is a member of the most advanced plant family on Earth. It is a dioecious (having male, female and sometimes hermaphroditic, male and female on same plant), woody, herbaceous annual that uses the sun more efficiently than virtually any other plant on our planet, reaching a robust 12 to 20 feet or more in one short growing season. It can be grown in virtually any climate or soil condition on Earth, even marginal ones.

Today we also know cannabis hempseed is the plant kingdom’s richest source of life-giving essential fatty acids. Of the 3-million plus edible plants that grow on Earth, no other single plant source can compare with the nutritional value of cannabis hempseeds. Even more important for building a strong immune system, cannabis hempseeds are the highest source in the plant kingdom of essential fatty acids. These essential oils, linoleic and linolenic acids, are responsible for the luster in your skin, hair, eyes, and even your thought processes. They lubricate (clear) the arteries and are vital to the immune system.

FOOD: So that just that little bit of basic information we just covered would suggest that just eating the cannabis plant would do wonders for the health and well-being of those who consume it as just a food. Not only that but this food source can virtually be grown anywhere on this planet and in any soil or climate. I know right ? its pretty mind-blowing that the most nutritional food source on this planet is hardly ever talked about and is prohibited to be grown here in America and most parts of the world. well let me continue to blow your mind.

So here is where the industrial uses of this plant tie together with economic stability and a lot of social issue we face today. The Cannabis Hemp plant is this planets number one source for Fuel, Fiber, Paper, Food and Medicine.

FUEL: America has been trying to lower its dependency on foreign oil, But yet we don’t utilize the planets number one renewable and natural source for fuel. On a global scale, the plant that produces the most net biomass is cannabis hemp. It’s the only annually renewable plant on Earth able to replace all fossil fuels. Biomass energy systems can supply a sustainable source of fuel and will create millions of new clean jobs. Hemp biomass derived fuels and oils can replace every type of fossil fuel energy product.so lets say for instance we have a huge spill of fuel or oil. This is no longer a planet altering event. The oils and fuels are as natural as the source in which they were derived. it’s a complete renewable cycle and source for fuel dependency, yet nobody speaks of it. Why ? Big business, corporate greed and special interests in washington share most of the blame.

FIBER: Cannabis hemp is, overall, the strongest, most-durable, longest-lasting natural soft-fiber on the planet. Homespun cloth was almost always spun, by people all over the world, from fibers grown in the “family hemp patch.” In America, this tradition lasted from the Pilgrims (1620s) until hemp’s prohibition in the 1930s. In the 1930s, Congress was told by the Federal Bureau of Narcotics that many Polish-Americans still grew pot in their backyards to make their winter “long johns” and work clothes, and greeted the agents with shotguns for stealing their next year’s clothes.

PAPER: Until 1883, from 75-90 percent of all paper in the world was made with cannabis hemp fiber, including that for books, Bibles, maps, paper money, stocks and bonds, newspapers, etc. The Gutenberg Bible (in the 15th century); Pantagruel and the Herb pantagruelion, Rabelais (16th century); King James Bible (17th century); Thomas Paine’s pamphlets, The Rights of Man, Common Sense, The Age of Reason (18th century); the works of Fitz Hugh Ludlow, Mark Twain, Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas; Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland (19th century); and just about everything else was printed on cannabis hemp paper.

MEDICINE: From 1842 through the 1890s, extremely strong marijuana (then known as cannabis extractums) and hashish extracts, tinctures and elixirs were routinely the second and third most-used medicines in America for humans (from birth, through childhood, to old age) and in veterinary medicine until the 1920s and longer. For at least 3,000 years, prior to 1842, widely varying marijuana extracts (buds, leaves, roots, etc.) were the most commonly used and widely accepted medicines in the world for the majority of mankind’s illnesses.

So cannabis Hemp is the number one source for all of those five topics discussed above. pretty amazing huh ? one plant really can do so much if utilized properly. and those are just five of the thousands of industrial uses of the cannabis hemp plant. Ok so we have pretty much determined that the cannabis hemp plant, no matter what your beliefs are is the planets number one source for Food, Paper, Fibers, Fuel, and Medicine. so that means that even the poorest of the poor people on this planet, in the worst climate and soil, if given access to dirt and sunlight and very little water can provide themself with Fibers to provide themself with clothes. They can provide themselves with paper for newspapers, books and education. They can provide themselves with the most nutritional food source for human consumption on this planet. They can provide Biomass fuels to power their tractors, vehicles and generators as well.

This single plant could uplift the poorest and hungriest person from poverty into economic stability in matter of a few crops. And its illegal why ? Well i say its time to stop ranting and start acting. The cannabis hemp movement is fractured in such a way, that we no longer fight the same fight. we need a drastic change in the direction of this movement. a change for the better. a more unified approach to achieve the goal that all cannabis hemp consumers want to achieve, Ending the prohibition of the worlds most amazing plant, cannabis hemp. so wether it be medicator VS stoner, hippie VS modern, science VS religion, in the end we all want the exact same thing. The freedom to choose a natural renewable plant for the many uses it was intended without fear of discrimination or persecution. I think that is something everyone within the cannabis movement can get behind. And if not, well we don’t need you around anyhow. from these ash’s must rise a phoenix the world has never known. we must tear down our walls of indifference and unite with a unified voice with a unified goal of ending the prohibition of the cannabis hemp plant for everyone and all purposes. If we keep that very goal in mind, in the end, everyone’s goal is achieved.

Now as I wrap this post up I want to take some time to introduce you to the CCHHI 2012 initiative that I am currently gathering signatures for here in Fresno California. The California Cannabis Hemp and Health initiative of 2012 is Jack Herer’s own initiative from 1994. nothings changed, it is truly Jack Herer’s own Legacy only continued by close friends and activists. There are dedicated activists statewide currently gathering signatures to place this initiative on the 2012 ballot. Let me explain in my opinion why i think this is the best initiative for all cannabis consumers as a whole, and with 2012 being a presidential election year is actually perfect timing for an initiative to really get passed.

First thing it does is legalizes cannabis hemp. (1)- Creates and funds new hemp based industries and jobs. (2)- It permits the use of Marijuana or Cannabis hemp by adults 21 and older and licenses, regulates, enforces, and taxes recreational marijuana or cannabis hemp just like beer and wine. (3)- It prohibits taxing and expands the accessibility of medicinal marijuana or cannabis hemp in accordance with prop-215. (3)- Prohibits counties from imposing discriminatory, excessive or prohibitive zoning requirements and fees on cannabis hemp outlets. (4)- Allows farmers to grow industrial cannabis hemp and hemp seed, and allows industries and entrepreneurs to use the crop for the many uses and applications that cannabis hemp provides, both historically and modern. (5)- Restricts the use in California of genetically modified cannabis seeds. (6)- Eliminates the unfair practice of drug testing for cannabis metabolites, which can be retained in the human body for months. Impairment testing for non-metabolized cannabis, a more effective and accurate measurement for impairment or recent usage, would replace the metabolite test. (7)- mandates the state establish performance based standards, similar to those established for alcohol, to determine levels of impairment for safe operation of motor vehicles and other equipment. (8)- Allows for the release and discharge of people currently being punished for non-violent marijuana or cannabis hemp related offenses, saving taxpayers millions of dollars annually and freeing up jail space, judicial and crime fighting resources. (9)- Removes cannabis hemp from the California Uniform Controlled Substances Act, which currently allows the federal government to regulate cannabis hemp as a schedule I drug. (10)- Prohibits California law enforcement from assisting federal drug agents attempting to enforce federal laws that are no longer illegal by reason of this legislation. (11)Allows for personal use and possession of cannabis hemp grown for personal consumption. (12)- Caps the excise tax for commercial sales at $10 per ounce. (13)- Caps the license fees for commercial production, distribution, and sales at $1000. (14)- Allows a physician to approve or recommend medicinal marijuana or cannabis hemp without fear of repercussion to patients of any age. (15)- Requires that 50% of excise taxes collected from sales of recreational cannabis hemp be made available to be used for the development, promotion, and assistance in the creation of industrial, nutritional, and medicinal cannabis hemp industries.

Pretty much this is the best and most well-rounded initiative that has ever been conceived. there is little to no flaws in it at all. and it totally covers the entire cannabis community as a whole, focusing all major aspects of Cannabis hemp reform, from the recreational user and grower, to the medicinal patient and provider, to the farmers and industries in which would finally be allowed to become out of the dark and into the light. It will Create and funds new hemp based industries and jobs in a time where unemployment rates are at all time high. It will provide farmers here in the central valley a cheap and easily manageable crop that will provide them with many outlets for their raw cannabis hemp products to be manufactured. It also can provide food for the hungry, Clean the polluted air we breath, and replenish the soil we have destroyed with pesticides and treatments.

We are at a major tipping point for this planet and this movement. We must unite, under a single and unified voice to achieve the restoration of the cannabis hemp plant. Please I am asking all who have taken the time to read this to please take the time to read this initiative, get motivated, and actually promote the change we all seek so desperately. Get involved, Contact the CCHHI 2012 via social networking or through E-mail or by whatever means nessacary and see how you can help. Donate the money, if you have it, or just educate your friends and family to the restoration of the cannabis hemp plant and CCHHI in 2012. Now i will leave you with a video of the High Times lifetime achievement award video that they played at the first ever L.A High Times medicinal cannabis cup last weekend, which I had the honor of attending. Though Jack is no longer with us,( R.I.P- Jack ) and could not accept his award. Dan Skye senior editor of High times said some very kind words about Jack, ” if not for Jack Herer, I wouldn’t be here today doing what I do” said Dan Skye. He then proceeded to announce Dan Herer, Jacks son would be accepting the award on his father’s behalf. Then Dan Herer after accepting the award, warned of complacency, and that there is still much to be done in the realm of cannabis hemp reform. the main thing that really stuck with me from this video was jacks words at the end.

Fresno’s WAR on Medical Marijuana

Dont let the Few, ruin it for the many, The needs of the many far out way the few !

Why would the Fresno county board of supervisors pass such an uneducated impartial judgment upon a group of people simply for their difference in choice of medicine ?

Sounds real innocent when you ask it like that, doesn’t it ? But you are all use to hearing marijuana, Drugs, hotbeds for criminal activity, drug stores, pot shops, marijuana busts and raids. If The Fresno County Sherrif’s Dept and Fresno county board of supervisors in fact do want to lower crime and drug activity, then banning Collectives, Co-op’s and dispensary is a terrible idea and an uneducated impartial judgement upon a group of people who choose to use a non toxic plant for holistic healing over western medicine. Collectives, Co-op’s and dispensary are single-handedly providing a legal and safe environment for Valid patients within the state of California to receive their medicine, While at the same time Removing black market middle men and putting drug dealers out of business. By removing street dealers you also greatly decrease the likelihood of other drugs being pushed on kids and adults who are only seeking medical cannabis. The people of the great state of California decided and passed prop 215 ( now HS11362.5 ) by popular vote in 1996. SB 420 was a compromise that considered much input from patients and reformers. It clears up certain implementation issues surrounding Prop 215 HS11362.5 and formulates a voluntary system to protect patients from arrest. It sets standards as the default baseline for protection, but also empowers localities to adopt scientific local medical marijuana guidelines. They must have got some misleading text from the state laws, because I don’t see anywhere it allows them to disregard the state laws and simply ignore it, or come up with such ridiculous regulations and intrusions of personal property in order to create a De facto Ban, Do you ?

Now don’t get me wrong, I do understand why they are doing what they are doing. They were Lied to, so was there parents and grandparents. Everyone has been lied to, or bought in to the notion That cannabis is this evil destructive plant that will alter the course of human history if allowed to exist. When actual Science and facts about the plant are locked away and never to be discussed again. All Clinical studies and research must cease to exist. if anyone does any research they are in direct violation of federal law and will be pursued and persecuted. We have all been lied to for the last 80 to 100 years about the truths of the amazing Cannabis plant. up until the mid 1800’s Extracts and derivatives of the cannabis plant where the second and third most prescribed medicines from birth to old age in the U.S.A. Eli Lilly, Parke-Davis, Squibb, Brothers Smith and other firms produce these medicines through 1930. During this time, not one death or severe side-effect is recorded as an attribute to use. Most Americans would have never guessed that in a million years. That Marijuana could be used as a medicine and in fact has been used as one for thousands of years. Not very many people know that they have a Endocannabinoid System in their body that reacts with the chemicals in the cannabis plant to help stimulate the ECS system.

The Cannabis Plant is not just for getting high, thow it is widely known for enhancing all sorts of activities and enjoyed in a recreational and leisurely fashion. Botanically the Cannabis hemp plant is a member of the most advanced plant family on earth. It is a dioecious ( having male, female and some times hermaphroditic–male and female on same plant ), woody, herbaceous annual that uses the sun more efficiently than virtually any other plant on earth, reaching up to a robust 12 to 20 feet or more in one short growing season. It can be grown in virtually any climate or soil condition on earth, even marginal ones. Cannabis Hemp is, by far, Earths premier, renewable natural resource. I could go on forever on this topic, so i will try to keep to the Subject.

The Fresno county board of supervisors misguided and uneducated decision to Ban all Collectives and Co-op’s in the UNINCORPORATED parts of Fresno co will only increase crime, Increase Access to children, create more problems and restrict the Legal medical Marijuana patients Access to their medicine, while at the same time forcing more money out of our local economy and into other surrounding county’s. Another big problem I have with the County of Fresno’s decision to ban is, The fresno county health department issues State medical marijuana ID Cards for Patients in fresno co. Only for the county to turn around and deny your access to those meds within your county. SAY WHAT ? the hypocrisy of it all is quite insane. Now I will say there are some bad apples in the bunch of collectives co-op’s, But the only reason they are getting away with it is because there are no rules, regulations and guidelines That show them the models in which to operate.

Its going to be a long hard battle to get some real regulations in place that work for both sides of the aisle. And even worse so then before due to increased federal funding and activity in California to help the feds with their ongoing war on the 10th amendment of our constitution. But one of the main things that we all can do is be Active. Call your state Reps, congressmen and women, Obama, county board of supervisors, city council and tell them you are tired of thier bullshit, shit or get of the pot! Education is the key to a better future for all Cannabis consumers. So share the gift of knowledge onto one another, tell your friends and family, share news storeys and other blogs like this one with everyone. If wars can be started with lies, they can be ended with the Truth.

CANNABIS HEMPSEED: As a Basic World Food

I will first start out by saying that the title is actually taken from “The Emperor Wears No Clothes” written by the Grandfather of Hemp himself, Jack Herer. We lost a great man last April who truly saw the potential of cannabis as not just a recreational past time but as a solution to world hunger, deforestation of trees for paper and lumber, pollution, clean energy and economic stability. I would like to thank, Bene-Joaquin Herer, Barry Herer, River Walker-Herer, Mark Herer, Chanci Herer, Dan Herer and of course Jeannie Herer and all the other members of the Herer family for keeping his spirit and drive to see Cannabis/Hemp legalized and utilized alive and with us today. ( R.I.P – Jack Herer – June 18, 1939 – April 15, 2010 )

Here is the beginning to Chapter 8 of the Emperor Wears No Clothes.

Cannabis Hemp seed as a Basic World Food

In 1937, Ralph Loziers, general counsel of the National Institute of Oilseed Products, told the Congressional committee studying marijuana prohibition that “hempseed… is used in all the Oriental nations and also in a part of Russia as food. It is grown in their fields and used as oatmeal. Millions of people every day are using hempseed in the Orient as food. They have been doing this for many generations, especially in periods of famine.”

That was over 70 years ago. Today we know hempseed is the plant kingdom’s richest source of life-giving essential fatty acids, and may well be the cure for cancer and heart disease.

Hempseed: Humanity’s Best Single Food Source

Of the 3-million plus edible plants that grow on Earth, no other single plant source can compare with the nutritional value of hempseeds. Both the complete protein and the essential oils contained in hempseeds are in ideal ratios for human nutrition. Only soybeans contain a higher percentage of protein. However, the composition of the protein in hempseed is unique in the vegetable kingdom. Sixty-five percent of the protein content in hempseed is in the form of globulin edestin.1 (The word “edestin” comes from the Greek “edestos,” meaning edible.)

The exceptionally high edestin content of hempseed combined with albumin, another globular protein contained in all seeds, means the readily available protein in hempseed contains all the essential amino acids in ideal proportions to assure your body has the necessary building blocks to create proteins like disease-fighting immunoglobulins -antibodies whose job is to ward off infections before the symptoms of sickness set in.2

Cannabis seed protein even allows a body with nutrition-blocking tuberculosis, or almost any other nutrition-blocking ailment, to get maximum nourishment.*

*Cohen & Stillman, Therapeutic Potential of Marijuana, Plenum Press, NY, 1976; Czech. Tubercular Nutritional Study, 1955.

Even more important for building a strong immune system, hempseeds are the highest source in the plant kingdom of essential fatty acids. These essential oils, linoleic and linolenic acids, are responsible for the luster in your skin, hair, eyes, and even your thought processes. They lubricate (clear) the arteries and are vital to the immune system.

These essential fatty acids were used by Dr. Joanna Budwig (nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize every year since 1979) to successfully treat “terminal” cancer patients, as well as those suffering from cardiovascular disease, glandular atrophy, gallstones, kidney degeneration, acne, dry skin, menstrual problems and immune deficiency.

This, as well as other research, prompted William Eidleman, M.D., UCLA, and R. Lee Hamilton, Ed.D., Ph.D. Medical Researcher-Biochemist UCLA Emeritus, to speak out on behalf of “the life-giving values” of cannabis hemp. They state:

“These essential oils support the immune system and guard against viral and other insults to the immune system. Studies are in progress using the essential oils to support the immune systems of persons with the H.I.V. virus. So far they have been extremely promising.

“What is the richest source of these essential oils? Yes, you guessed it, the seeds of the cannabis hemp plant … The insane prohibitions against the most valuable plant on Earth, cannabis hemp, must yield to public demand … The promise of super health and the possibility of feeding the world is at our fingertips.” (December 29, 1991 and April 2007)

Hempseed extracts, like soybeans, can be spiced to taste like chicken, steak, or pork and can be used to make tofu-type curd and margarine, at less cost than soybeans. Sprouting any seed improves its nutritional value and hemp can be sprouted and used like any other seed sprout for salads or cooking.

Sprouted hempseeds make milk, just as soybeans do. Alan “Birdseed” Brady of Santa Cruz, California and Abba Das of Colorado use this milk to make a delicious and nutritious ice cream in many flavors that actually lowers cholesterol levels.

Hempseed is ground and used like flour, or cooked, then sweetened and combined with milk to produce a nutritional breakfast cereal-like oatmeal or cream of wheat. This type of porridge is known as a gruel. (Like the fiber, hempseeds will not get you high.)

“Hemp is a favorite [bird seed] because of its nourishing oily content.” (Margaret McKenny, Birds in the Garden, Reynal & Hitchcock, NY, 1939.) Incredibly, when cannabis hemp is grown for seed, half the weight of the mature, harvested female plant is seed!

English and European fishermen who cast in fresh-water lakes and rivers first told me in 1995 that hempseed has always been the preferred bait in Europe for chumming – that is, casting the hempseeds on the water – causing the fish to scramble from all over to get the seeds, thereby getting caught. Not one of the many European fishermen I talked to knew that hemp seeds and marijuana were one in the same. So hempseed is the favorite of fish, as well as, most birds.

The byproduct of pressing hempseed for its nutritious vegetable oil is a high protein seed cake. Hempseed cake was one of the world’s principal animal feeds until this century.* Hempseed can supply a nearly complete diet for all domesticated animals (dogs, cats), many farm animals and poultry, and allows animals maximum weight gain for less than current feed costs. And without any need for artificial growth steroids or other drugs currently poisoning the human race and food chain.

Isn’t it strange – doesn’t it make you mad as hell – that the number one food of all time for most birds, fish, horses, humans, and life in general, is illegal to have naturally and healthfully in the United States of America, as ordered by the Nazi/Gestapo-like Amerikan Drug Enforcement Administration and, through them, the USDA?

*U.S. Agricultural Index; Frazier, Jack, The Marijuana Farmers, Solar Age Press, New Orleans, LA, 1972; Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill, Udo, Erasmus, 1996

Hell yes it makes me mad! Does it make you guys mad? I mean I live in Fresno, CA. All we know here is agriculture. Small time farms as well as large industrial farms are a common sight around the surrounding parts of town and throughout the entire Central Valley. Fresno State University is celebrating its 100 year anniversary and is known around the world for their College of Agricultural Science and Technology. Now I know (from driving tractor-trailers full of tomatoes up, down and all around this great state) that there are a lot of dried up, un-utilized farm plots and acreage due to water shortages.

But don’t worry! Wal-Mart to the rescue? In a really big effort to try to feed the hungry, Wal-Mart offered up $1 million to the poorest and most needy city in America. The contest was held on Facebook and Fresno took 2nd place. We got a $100,000 donation instead of the the big prize of $1 million. The mayor of Fresno has asked its citizens to donate a dollar to help the homeless. Now I am all for that don’t get me wrong but, is this really the best we can do? Relying on HUGE corporations that barely pay their own employees a decent wage and refuse to pay their healthcare costs and expenses to provide the homeless and hungry with food and shelter. Or in a Economic downturn asking the Taxpayers to share just a little more through donations to help the homeless.

If we want to feed the fourth hungriest city in the nation it is as simple as planting the seed. We have a entire Central Valley of generation after generation of farmers. The Hemp plant requires far less water then corn and most vegetable crops, Replenishes the Soil, Requires very little , to no pesticides, and would also help reduce the nations 2nd most polluted city in America, Second only to Bakersfield Ca. Hemp in the Central Valley of California makes perfect sense in more ways the one. It puts our farmers back to work, it also feeds the hungry with the most nutritional seed for human consumption on this planet. All while cleaning the heavily polluted soil and very air we breath.

Here are some awesome Hemp facts everyone should know: ( Hempfarm.org )

For Starters:

-Farmers around the world grow hemp. Legally. And they’ve been doing so for thousands of years. View a timeline of hemp throughout history here.

-Hemp is a plant grown from a seed. It can get up to 15 to 20 or so feet tall. It is an annual, herbaceous, long fiber plant similar to flax (linen), jute and ramie. [i]

-It’s the sister plant to marijuana but it won’t get you high. However, it’s good at doing almost anything else except making you ‘high’. You’ll learn more about its versatility in this document.

-Although hemp and marijuana are both from the cannabis species, hemp contains virtually no THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.) If you smoke hemp you will likely get a headache. You will not get ‘high’. Its THC level is less than 1%, whereas marijuana may contain between 5 – 15%.[iii]

-Its seeds are pressed for oil that can be used for food (salad dressings, supplements, etc.), industrial lubrication, diesel fuel, paints, varnishes and more.

-Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. [ii]

-Hemp is among the oldest industries on the planet, going back more than 10,000 years to the beginnings of pottery. [iv]

-The Columbia History of the World states that the oldest relic of human industry is a piece of Mesopotamian hemp fabric dating back to approximately 8,000 BC.[v]

-For more than a century, hemp was legal tender to pay American taxes.[vi]

-Over 600,000 acres of hemp grow worldwide today.[vii] Over 8,500 acres were grown in Canada in 2008.[viii]

-The 2002 figures for global hemp sales were US$250 million. US$150 million in the United States alone.[ix]

-The HIA (Hemp Industries Association) is confident that the total North American hemp food and body care market in 2008 accounted for at least $100 million in retail sales. In 2005-2008, hemp food sales have averaged 47% annual growth, making hemp one of the fastest-growing natural food categories. Source.

-For the first 162 years of America’s existence, marijuana was totally legal and hemp was a common crop. But during the 1930s, the U.S. government and the media began spreading outrageous lies about marijuana, which led to its prohibition. (“Marijuana: The devil’s weed with roots in hell”, “Marijuana makes fiends of boys in 30 days”, “Reefer Madness”, etc.) It was banned in the USA under the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937. In a blatant case of mistaken identity, industrial hemp was banned along with it.[x]

-It is said that the motivation for the hemp ban was that new processing technologies were developed that made it a potential competitor with the newly founded synthetic fiber and plastics industries. Hemp’s potential for producing paper also posed a threat to the timber and oil industries. Evidence suggests that commercial interests, having much to lose from hemp competition, helped propagate the reefer madness hysteria and used their influence to lobby for Marijuana Prohibition. It is debatable at to whether special interests conspired to destroy the hemp industry via Marijuana Prohibition, but evidence exists to raise the possibility.[Xi]

-In Canada, parliament passed Bill C-8 in May of 1997, freeing industrial hemp from the drug legislation imposed in 1938 when Canada’s Opium and Narcotics Control Act followed the United States’ lead and banned hemp production. The responsibilities to regulate the “new” crop were given to Health Canada. [xii] (The UK lifted its ban in 1993.[xiii])

-It is currently illegal to grow industrial hemp for food, oil, paper or fabric in the USA, but it is perfectly legal to export hemp to the U.S. and to process, consume and wear it there. [xv]

-A Popular Mechanics article from 1938 stated that over 25,000 different products could be made from hemp in oil, seed or fiber form.[xvi]

-Used for thousands of years by a wide variety of cultures, hemp is currently being used worldwide in industries such as fabric, food, bio-diesel fuel, paper, plastics, rope, building material, molded panels, car components, wallpaper, acoustic baffling and barn bedding for farm animals.[xvii]

-125 years ago, 70 to 90 percent of all rope, twine, cordage, ship sails, canvas, fiber, cloth, etc., was made out of hemp fiber. It was replaced by DuPont’s then newly discovered petrochemical fiber (nylon) beginning in 1937. [xviii]

-The hemp plant is highly resistant to most insect and disease, largely eliminating the need for most (or all) pesticides and herbicides.[xix]

-No herbicides have been approved for industrial hemp. Early planting, as soon as the soil is warm enough, is a recommended weed control strategy.[xx]

-A normal stand of 200 to 300 plants per square meter shades out weeds, leaving the fields weed-free at harvest and covered in leaves that improve the soil in a self-mulching eco-system.[xxi]

-Industrial hemp can be grown on a wide variety of soil types, but tends to grow best on land that produces high yields of corn.[xxii]

-Hemp prefers a mild climate, humid atmosphere, and a rainfall of at least 25-30 inches per year. [xxiii]

-A hemp field produces a very large bulk of plant material in a short period of time. (Stalks can reach 15 feet tall in 70-90 growing days)[xxiv] [xxv]

-Yields can reach between 3 to 7 tons of dry hemp fibre stalk per acre.[xxvi]

-HEMP IS THE NUMBER ONE biomass producer on planet earth: 10 tons per acre in approximately four months. It is a woody plant containing 77% cellulose. Wood produces 60% cellulose.[xxvii]

-Low abrasion means low impact on farm equipment and workers hands. [xxviii]

-Hemp was one of Canada’s first agricultural exports when the fiber was sold to Britain and France for use in their navies. It was common practice for tracts of land to be issued to settlers in Canada on the provision that they grow hemp.[xxix]

-During World War II the U.S. government relaxed the anti-hemp laws and spurred mid-western farmers to grow over a million acres of the plant for the war effort. “Hemp For Victory” was the name of the informational film made by U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1942.[xxx] Decades later they denied they ever made the film. This was disapproved by researchers in 1989 when they found evidence of it at the Library of Congress.[xxxi]

-Of all the hemp grown in Canada, almost all of it was for seed, oil and construction material. Little went to the fabric industry. Most fabric is imported from China and Europe. [xxxii] See Canadian farming acreage stats here.

Fibers, Fabric & Clothing:

-The agriculture world’s longest and most durable natural fibers are hemp’s ‘bast’ fibers, contained in the bark of the plant’s stalk. [xxxiii]

-Cinema Space, in Montreal, is Canada’s first cinema to use hemp fabric to cover its seats.

-In 1853, the first pair of Levi’s jeans was made. Due to a fire in the Levis archives (San Francisco’s Great Earthquake and Fire – 1906 ) it can no longer be proven, but many believe the first pair of Levis were made from hemp.

-The word canvas (traditionally made from hemp) comes from cannabis (Latin). This word comes from kaneh-bosem, Hebrew for ‘aromatic cane’. [xxxv]

-Un-dyed hemp fabric will not rot and won’t fade in sunlight.[xxxvi] [xxxvii]

-Hemp is anti-microbial, anti-mildew, naturally UV resistant and readily takes on eco-safe plant-based dyes. [xxxviii]

-Frequently blended with cotton, silk, tencel, bamboo, spandex and other fibers to make a wide variety of fabrics with various attractive properties. It is also an efficient insulator keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.[xxxix]

-A 2000 year-old hemp-rope toupé was found in Sichuan, China. Source.

-It is said that a parachute rigging made of hemp saved the life of George Bush Sr. when the young bomber pilot bailed out of his burning plane.[xl]

-Hemp softens with each washing, without fiber degradation.[xli] As the saying goes: “Hemp doesn’t wear out, it wears in.”[xlii]

Compared to Cotton:

-Environmentally, hemp is a safer crop to grow than cotton. Cotton is a soil-damaging crop and needs a great deal of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.[xliii]

-Cotton crops in the USA occupy 1% of the country’s farmland but use 50% of all pesticides. [xliv] “The pesticides used on cotton, whether in the U.S. or oversees, are some of the most hazardous available today,” says Doug Murray, Ph.D., a professor of sociology at Colorado State University who has studied pesticide use on cotton overseas. Source.

-1 acre of hemp will produce as much as 2-3 acres of cotton.[xlv]

-Hemp is 4 times warmer than cotton, 4 times more water absorbent, has 3 times the tensile strength of cotton. It is also many times more durable and is flame retardant.[xlvi]

-Many high fashion clothing manufacturers have produced clothes and footwear made with hemp. Some of these include: Nike, Converse, Armani, Patagonia, Polo Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta and many more.[xlvii]

-Hemp fabrics were once far more expensive than cotton and other fabrics due to limited supply, but increased demand and availability in recent years have lowered the price considerably. [xlviii]

-Hemp breathes well and wicks moisture away from the body better than cotton. [xlix]

-HT Naturals (Canada’s largest hemp t-shirt supplier) asserts that selecting their hemp/cotton blended t-shirt over an all-cotton t-shirt saves the environment 744 gallons of water. This company has recently partnered with Canada’s National Research Council to create Crailar an enzyme that will make hemp fibers as soft as cotton.[l]

-Hemp paper can be made from both the outer fibers of the hemp stalk (bast fibers) as well as the inner core (or ‘hurd’ fibers) of the stalk.[li]

-One acre of hemp (grown in a single season) yields as much paper as up to 4 acres of trees (which take many more years to grow). [lii]

-Hemp paper is stronger, acid free, has a longer shelf life and costs less than half as much to process as tree paper. [liii]

-Hemp paper can be recycled 10 times whereas wood-based paper can only be recycled twice without losing integrity and requiring additional virgin fiber content.[liv]

-China, the world’s first paper maker, used hemp to make paper 1,900 years ago. [lv]

-Both the Gutenberg Bible (15th C.) and the King James Bible (17th C.) were printed on hemp-based papers. [lvi]

-In 1776, Thomas Jefferson, a hemp farmer, wrote the first two drafts of the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper.[lvii]

-Since deforestation is a serious environmental concern, hemp can offer a significant contribution to the world’s environment as well as its economy.[lviii]

Building Materials and Plastics:

-The core of the hemp stalk is used to produce fiberboard, insulation, carpet, fiberglass substitute, cement blocks, concrete, stucco and mortar.[lix]

-Hemp oil extracted from hemp seeds is used in the production of plastics, oil paints, varnishes, inks, solvents, lubricants, putty and coatings.[lx]

-In an effort to initiate industrial hemp production, a Native farmer named Alex White Plume on his reservation in South Dakota built a house entirely out of what he calls “Hempcrete” bricks. [lxi]

-In 1941, Popular Mechanics ran a story featuring a photograph of Henry Ford standing next to the car he “grew from the soil”. The hemp-ethanol fueled and hemp-resin bodied vehicle was a dream of his but many bills proposing a national agricultural based fuel energy program were killed by smear campaigns launched by vested petroleum interests. One claim put forth was that the U.S. government’s plans “robbed taxpayers to make farmers rich”. [lxii]

-Hemp planting reduces deforestation and improves the soil upon which it is grown.[lxiii]

-All products made solely from hemp fiber are biodegradable, compostable and recyclable. As such, they are easy on landfills.[lxiv]

-A lightweight product: for greater fuel efficiency in transport, ease of handling, increased payload capacity.

-Hemp advocates say it is possible to leave the forests alone and go back to making paper from hemp, but is that really feasible? Technically, yes. Once plant cellulose is turned into pulp, machines cannot tell the difference between it and wood pulp.[lxv]

-A worker-friendly, non-toxic material

Food and Nutrition:

-Of the 3 million plus edible plants that grow on Earth, no other plant source can compare with the nutritional value of hempseeds. [lxvi]

-Hemp is edible as whole seeds, hulled seed (the hemp ‘nut’ or ‘heart’), protein powder, or as oil extracted from seeds.

-It is used in salad dressings, protein bars, breads, cakes, soups, beer, butters, shakes, milk, breakfast cereals and many more food products and recipes.

-Hemp plants produce seeds that contain between 25-35% oil by weight. This non-trans-fatty-acid oil is high in a perfect balance of essential fatty acids (EFAs: Omega-3, 6, 9) considered to be necessary to maintain health. [lxviii] Hemp’s EFA profile provides a healthy alternative to fish, often high in mercury and other toxins.

-Hemp’s overall protein content of 35% is comparable to soybeans and is higher than that found in nuts, other seeds, meats, dairy products and fish or poultry. Hemp protein contains all of the essential amino acids in more nutritionally significant amounts and at a ratio closer to “complete” sources of protein (like meat, milk and eggs) than all other seeds except soy. [lxix]

-65% of the proteins in hemp are “edestin,” which are easily digestible and act as pre-cursors to such vital body components as hormones, hemoglobin, enzymes and antibodies. Hemp’s edestin structure is the highest in the plant kingdom, making it more digestible than soy and many other plant foods. [lxx]

-Hemp also contains a healthy 35% of dietary fiber, the highest of all commercial flour grains, and it is high in the natural antioxidants Vitamin E, Vitamin C and chlorophyll.[lxxi]

-The hardiness and nutritional benefits of hemp could help address many of the world’s starvation problems.[lxxii]

-Hemp should not be cooked at temperatures over 350F because at this emperature the fats are in danger of becoming “trans” and thus unhealthy. Source.

-NOT including Whole Foods Markets sales, hemp food sales in North America grew by 39% over the previous year (from August 2006 to August 2007), or by $2.1 million, to a total of $7.7 million. Based on this, it is estimated that the total retail value of hemp foods sold in this period in North America grew from $14 million (in 2006) to approximately $20 million in 2007. Source.

Bio-Diesel Fuel:

-Industrial hemp would be a viable bio-diesel fuel if hemp were legal to cultivate in the United States.

-In 2001, the “Hemp Car”, a converted 1980s diesel Mercedes station wagon drove a 13,000 mile 50 city tour of North America. It was powered by solely by 600 gallons of hemp bio-diesel fuel made from the stalk of the hemp plant.[lxxiii]

-The exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide from bio-diesel are 47% lower than carbon monoxide emissions from diesel.[lxxiv]

-Bio-diesel reduces the health risks associated with petroleum diesel. Bio-diesel emissions showed decreased levels of PAH and nitrited PAH compounds, which have been, identified as potential cancer causing compounds.[lxxv]

-In a period of 28 days, pure bio-diesel degrades 85 to 88 percent in water.[lxxvi]

-Any CO2 released from burning hemp as fuel matches the CO2 the plant had beneficially taken from the environment wile growing, creating what is called a closed carbon cycle that could slow down the effects of global warming[lxxvii]

Body Care Products:

-Thanks to its nourishing oil, hemp is booming in the personal hygiene industry with hemp found in soaps, shampoos, lotions, lip balms, bath oils, personal lubricants and more.

-Due to the large hemp body care line sold by The Body Shop, as well as the fact that many unreported leading mass-market brands of sun tan lotion and sunscreen products include hemp oil, the HIA (Hemp Industries Association) estimates the total retail value of North American hemp body care sales to be at least $50 million. Source.

-Cosmetics manufacturers, such as Revlon, include hemp oil in makeup, lotion and shampoo. In Europe they’re using hemp in household cleaners as a natural alternative to harsher chemicals.[lxxix]

“Make the most of Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere.”

-George Washington, 1794

It is not all about getting high, It is not about the money, It’s about a simple non toxic plant that has been prohibited by our government, who was duped by the lobbyist of there times. Most of the claims made in those days were so racist you would be afraid to say them in public these days in fear of hurting ones feelings. They scared the American public with propaganda and lies , they were conned into thinking it was something very Evil and destructive, things like ” Black men under the use of marihuana would want to look at a white women twice ” or smoking that Mexican loco weed will send you into uncontrollable murderous rages of psychedelic mayhem. Reefer Madness at its finest, they were lies then, and there even worse lies now! So Central Valley, its up to us now to carry the torch into a Cleaner, Renewable ,more nutritional food to eat and cleaner air to breath. Putting farmers back to work, creating and stimulating our economy with the worlds single greatest renewable resource known to man, Cannabis Hemp. We can do this, you cant have a tree that bears fruit without a seed, so lets plant that seed and grow it together.

Welcome everybody! My intentions for this blog are to help educate the citizens of the Central Valley of California and all of the world as to the benefits of Cannabis/Hemp. The quality benefits of Cannabis can no longer be hidden from the average American citizen. Here at my blog you will find nothing but the honest truth about Cannabis. Cannabis/Hemp is a god given plant and no form of government or society should be able to deny this planets greatest renewable resource for Medicine, Food Oils and Proteins, Textiles, Fabrics, Fiber, Pulp Paper, Bio-Mass Energy, Paints and Varnishes, Rope Twine and Cordage, Building Materials and Housing, and last but not least Smoking, Leisure and Creativity. This plant was put here for man to use surely in all those ways expressed above. You can’t fight against the very laws of nature and science. Trying to prohibit a plant that has been very much a part of our culture and genetic makeup since the very dawn of man has to have horrendous ramifications! Scientifically as well as economically! We can no longer continue to deprive mankind from the worlds greatest plant known to man…
